The Storm After the Calm

Following on from 'The Big Sky' this collection was also inspired by my time at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation. This collection, while heavily influenced by the landscape but was more inward looking, reflecting on a turbulent period in my life. As I reached my middle years, following a couple of decades happily 'coasting' I was starting to ask some of the bigger questions. ' Holding On & Letting Go' has been a theme I have explored throughout my work but this series seemed to be distinct, a line in the hand.  Seamus Heaney's Clearances were a close companion - they helped to navigate these paintings.
