I was unsure how or what to paint after my beloved Mama's death. I took myself off to Cill Rialaig - the retreat in County Kerry that has really been a back bone to my work. While there I imagined I would lick my wounds in quietness but was delighted to find it an utter balm. The paintings that came then felt like gifts - a direct line - keeping the channel open. The paintings reminded me of the healing power of the landscape and the gift of the language it gave me.
