I drove out to Garretstown to swim on the evening of the Summer Solstice in 2023. It always feels as if we are on the cusp on Summer in mid June. Yet the Solstice is a timely reminder of quickening days. It is high time to swim.
The swim was the perfect immersion in to the season. The simplicity of being weightless in the water and salt on my skin immediately washed away weariness and connected me to the natural world. It did feel dreamy and of course I slept like a top!
Summer 2024 was a blur of building so I didn't swim at all but this coming Summer is full of promise.
