Level II – Follow-on from Abstracting the Landscape

Following on from my introductory landscape workshop, Re-enchanting the Connection helps participants to build on and further explore abstract techniques and incorporate them into their personal painting style. The focus of this workshop is the development of a personal theme that will underpin your own body of work. Your theme will be based on ideas generated in (and subsequent to) the introductory course.

At Level II participants are welcome and encouraged to incorporate mixed media, collage and experiment with a variety of techniques (including image transfer). We will further develop glazing techniques and students are encouraged to experiment with oil paints and cold wax if they would like to.

As per Level I, you can expect to take home renewed confidence in your painting ability and lots of skills and ideas to help you begin, work through and complete great paintings.

Who is it for:  Ideal for those who have completed the Abstracting the Landscape (Level 1 – introductory) workshop but is also useful for painters who want to develop their landscape practice in a focused, yet freer, manner.

Follow-on from Abstracting the Landscape

Abstracting the Landscape (Advanced – Level II)

Following on from my introductory landscape workshop, Re-enchating the Connection helps participants to build on and further explore abstract techniques and incorporate them into their personal painting style.

The focus of this workshop is the development of a personal theme that will underpin your own body of work. Your theme will be based on ideas generated in (and subsequent to) the introductory course.

On the introductory course we used acrylics and inks but students at Level II are welcome and encouraged to incorporate mixed media, collage and experiment with a variety of techniques (including image transfer). We will further develop glazing techniques and students are encouraged to experiment with oil paints and cold wax if they would like to.

As per Level I, you can expect to take home 2-4 completed paintings, renewed confidence in your painting ability and lots of skills and ideas to help you begin, work through and complete great paintings. Comprehensive Follow-on notes are provided to ensure you can hit the ground running when you go home.

Who is it for:  Ideal for those who have completed the Abstracting the Landscape (Level 1 – introductory) workshop but is also useful for painters who want to develop their landscape practice in a focussed, yet freer, manner.
